So I just finished reading the first 2 books and first 2 short stories in the Order of the Sanguines series by James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell and they were fantastic! I have been a huge fan of James Rollins Sigma Force Series for years.
I first started reading James Rollins because one of the security guards at my old job noticed I was always reading at my desk between calls, on breaks etc and so she started bringing me books. One of those books was Map of Bones. When I started reading it I didn’t realize it was part of a series but the way it was set up made it clear that there was a back story I didn’t know about so I took to Google and to my delight saw that it was part of an on going series. Within a few weeks I read all the Sigma Series books that were out at the time and have kept up with the new releases as they come. The Sigma Series is kinda Da Vinci Code-esq with action, history, science and sometimes religion all co-mingling into an awesome series but it’s not exactly horror, there are gun fights and angels of a sort but no real horror.
So Imagine my delight when I realized James Rollins had joined forces with another writer and had released a series of books about vampires! I have no idea how I missed it when it first came out but I’ve read them now and thats what counts.
The Order of the Sanguines has all the best elements of the Sigma Series: awesome characters, an interesting plot, lots of action. It also has soulless vampires out to bring on the end of the world AND good vampires who are part of an ancient order of priests within the Catholic Church. I don’t want to post any spoilers but I think its safe to say if you like vampire stories, James Rollins, Rebecca Cantrell or the Da Vinci Code you will like this series.
The series so far (in chronological order):
“City of Screams”
The Blood Gospel
“Blood Brothers”
Innocent Blood
